Last Saturday, whilst listening to this beautiful song, pondering the latest story I'm writing, and searching for a yarn equivalent to knit with, I discovered Quince & Co.. I'm such an enthusiast of artisan shops that put their hearts into every bit that they touch, and Quince & Co. is just that: and artisan shop that spins yarn in gorgeous colors and names them after birds. Their aesthetic is clean and elegant, allowing the vibrance of fiber to speak for itself.
I immediately fell for their Ibis bulky weight yarn that is twisted, part superfine merino/part mohair with a subtle gleam and gorgeous color ways, particularly, Austen. I don't believe my camera does it justice, but Austin is a gorgeous brick red, or auburn/oxblood mix. Literally, I saw the yarn, and immediately went on a search for a pattern that would give me an excuse to purchase. Plus, in my story, I'm dwelling in Autumn, and this gives me all of the feelings of Fall.
Since then, my package arrived and I am so enamored. It is the softest yarn, just snuggle in it cozy. It's gorgeous. The only caveat is that it's on the pricey side at $27 a skein, but I can't say it's not worth it. I can't wait to finish up my enormous infinity cowl designed by Yin of Pretty Quirky Pants. This cowl is the definition of love!
Post Script: Billie Marten is glorious. She's fueling my story, and making my knitting/writing time amazing.
