Of the many compositions on the Jurassic World score, "Nine to Survival Job" is one of my absolute favorites. Scoring an action films seems a challenging feat what with having to compose music that will heighten tension, cause excitement, and capture nuanced emotion. With a franchise as hallowed as Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park it seems that you would also have to harken back to those same emotions that kept viewers rapt for more.
This composition is such a wonderful surprise for an action film. It's so delicate with a dreamlike quality that packs the full punch of how wonderful my introduction as a child was to the film. Honestly I get a little emotional listening to it, especially in the first half of it, because it is the calm after the heart pounding war. The realization of survival and embrace of a companion. And at it's climactic end, it is the wonder that I, and no doubt many of you, experienced when you first discovered that a T-Rex could exist.
While I'm on the subject of Jurassic World, I might as well continue on how impressed I was with the film. I really fell in love with Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt. They are amazing.
